The Calgary Flames got to work this off-season, inking centre Mikael Backlund to a three year, $10.725 million contract Saturday.

The 26-year-old Backlund was a pending restricted free agent.

The former first round pick had 10 goals and 27 points in 52 games for the Flames last year. In 298 career games, Backlund has 51 goals and 128 points.
