The office of Oakland mayor Libby Schaaf confirmed to NBC Bay Area on Tuesday that a framework deal is in place to keep the Raiders in the city.

“The mayor said this a.m. there is a framework that that has been agreed upon and now in closed session today (county) and closed session on Nov. 29 (city council)," Schaaf's office released in a statement to NBC. "Both bodies will review so we know if we can move forward."

Schaaf brokered the deal with a group led by Hall of Fame cornerback and former Raider, Ronnie Lott. She will now meet with city council and representatives from the area in in-camera sessions for the remainder of the week to further outline the deal.

The team, currently sitting atop the AFC West at 8-2, had been seeking a new stadium deal in the area and had been making overtures about relocating to Las Vegas or once again joining the Rams in Los Angeles.

The Raiders didn't respond for NBC's request for comment.
