TORONTO - Matt Frattin scored twice as the Toronto Marlies rallied past the Grand Rapids Griffins 5-2 on Sunday in the first round of the American Hockey League playoffs.

Toronto leads their best-of-five series 2-0. Game 3 is in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Wednesday.

T.J. Brennan had a power-play goal and added two assists for the Marlies, while Connor Brown and Greg McKegg both put the puck into an empty net for some insurance. Christopher Gibson made 26 saves for the win.

Andy Miele and Teemu Pulkkinen staked Grand Rapids to a 2-0 lead in the first. Jared Coreau stopped 20-of-23 shots in net.

Frattin's second goal of the night tied the game 2-2, before Brennan's eventual winner.

Toronto went 2 for 4 on the power play, while the Griffins scored once on four man advantages.
