The Montreal Canadiens will receive a much-needed boost on Friday as forward Brendan Gallagher has been cleared to play in the Winter Classic against the Boston Bruins.

Gallagher has sidelined since Nov. 22, when he fractured two fingers in his left hand while blocking a shot in a game against the New York Islanders.

In 22 games with the Canadiens this season, he has nine goals and 19 points.

To make room for Gallagher, the Canadiens returned winger Sven Andrighetto to St. John's of the American Hockey League.
