BELEK, Turkey - Sergio Garcia says fellow Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez's lack of fluent English could hurt his chances of becoming Europe's next Ryder Cup captain.

Jimenez and Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke are considered leading contenders to replace Paul McGinley for the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine.

Garcia, a veteran of seven Ryder Cups and a vice captain in 2010, says he is concerned that Jimenez's English "is not good enough to deal with all the pressure that goes with being a European team captain."

He notes that a captain's role includes speeches, interviews and promotional appearances.

Garcia says "the problem is that English is not his first language."

A five-man committee is expected to name a captain early next year. McGinley guided Europe to a 16 1/2-11 1/2 win over the U.S. at Gleneagles in September.
