ALBANY, N.Y. - Michael Garteig made 27 saves and Soren Jonzzon scored twice in top-ranked Quinnipiac's 4-0 victory over RIT on Saturday in the NCAA East Regional semifinals.

The Bobcats (30-3-7) will face Massachussets-Lowell on Sunday for a spot in the Frozen Four in Tampa, Florida. Lowell beat Yale 3-2 on overtime in the second semifinal.

Garteig has seven shutouts this season and 19 overall.

"I thought Michael Garteig was our best player," Quinnipiac coach Rand Pecknold said. "Great battle mode. It was a nice, resilient win. Probably not our best game, but I thought we were resilient as we've been all year."

Travis St. Denis opened the scoring on a first-period power play with a one-timer from the point.

"Our power play is one of our strengths as a team and we knew early on that if we were going to get a power play we had to respond," St. Denis said. "I got lucky enough that my shot went in."

Scott Davidson made it 2-0 early in the third, and Jonzzon added his two goals to help the Bobcats match the school victory record set in 2012-13.

"Getting that second goal was obviously huge for us," Jonzzon said. "We had a lot of momentum in the game at times and carried the play at times. We were happy to go into the third with a lead and we knew if we got one more it would give us a buffer and take some of the wind out of their sails."

Mike Rotolo made 26 saves for RIT (18-15-6).

"I was very proud with how we played. I thought we played a good game, came in with a good game plan," RIT coach Wayne Wilson said. "I thought we played with pretty good energy. We had some good opportunities, but just couldn't get a timely goal. Give credit to Quinnipiac, they played good team defence, got great goaltending, and won the special teams battle."
