ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Brendan Gaunce forced overtime and then added the winner as the Utica Comets edged the St. John's IceCaps 3-2 on Saturday in American Hockey League action.

Gaunce tied the game 2-2 at 18:32 of the third period and put home the winner just five seconds into the extra period.

Jon Landry also scored for the Comets (22-17-6), who extended their win streak to four games. Joe Cannata made 32 saves for the victory.

Gabriel Dumont and Jacob de la Rose supplied the scoring for the IceCaps (19-18-10), who are on a five-game slide. Eddie Pasquale stopped 26-of-29 shots in defeat.

Utica went 1 for 6 on the power play while St. John's failed to score on four chances with the man advantage.
