ANTALYA, Turkey -- Canada was in seventh place when third-round play was suspended due to darkness Saturday at the World Amateur Team Championship.

Mackenzie Hughes of Dundas, Ont., Albin Choi of Toronto and Corey Conners of Listowel, Ont., were 10-under, 14 shots back of Team USA.

The Canadian trio completed second-round action earlier Saturday at the Cornelia Golf Club's Faldo Course after play had been suspended on Friday evening due weather delays and then darkness.

Hughes, Choi and Conners posted a 36-hole tally of 12-under par 274 to sit tied for third, 8 shots off the lead prior going into the third round.

The tournament was subsequently shortened to 54 holes due to the six-hour weather delay ahead of Friday's second round.

Through 10 holes, Conners led the team in scoring for the day at even-par after posting three birdies and three bogeys.

"Nobody really got off to the start we wanted," said Conners, who sits tied for 41st at even-par for the championship. "Still, we're looking forward to making some birdies tomorrow."

Choi also registered scores through 10 holes on Saturday afternoon and was at 2-over for the round and tied for 32nd.

Hughes, meanwhile, continues to lead the Canadian contingent on the individual leaderboard with a 5-under par for championship.

The reigning two-time Canadian Men's Amateur champion is tied for ninth, nine shots back of co-leaders Chris Williams of the United States and Sebastian Vazquez of Mexico.

Hughes was 3-over par on the day through 8 holes of his third round.

The World Amateur Team Championship is a biennial competition that has been played since 1958. France won the 2010 title in Buenos Aires.

Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Jack Nicklaus all played at the event before turning pro.
