GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Teemu Pulkkinen scored twice as the Grand Rapids Griffins avoided elimination with a 5-2 victory over the Toronto Marlies in Game 3 of their first-round American Hockey League playoff series on Wednesday.

Tyler Bertuzzi had a goal and an assist for the Griffins, who trail the best-of-five series 2-1. Andy Miele and Andreas Anthanasiou also scored.

Brendan Mikkelson and Troy Bodie supplied the offence for the Marlies.

Grand Rapids goaltender Tom McCollum stopped 25 shots. Toronto's Christopher Gibson made 25 saves in the losing effort.

The Griffins host Game 4 on Saturday.
