For the second straight year, Glenn Howard's Ontario rink will not appear in the Brier.

Howard was upset twice over the weekend in the Ontario Challenge Round, a last chance qualifier to make the provincial championship and play for the right to represent Ontario at the Brier in Calgary.

The 52-year-old skip and his rink of third Rich Hart, second Jon Mead and lead Craig Savill fell to Brent Ross and Scott McDonald sending them home early in the double elimination tournament. This surprising result means this will be the first time Howard has not skipped a team in Ontario's provincial championship since 2003.

Howard was originally scheduled to participate in the TSN Skins Game over the weekend, but withdrew to have a chance at making the Brier.
