According to Masters, defencemen Nikita Zaitsev and Roman Polak were not on the ice at Leafs' practice. It is unclear why forward Tyler Bozak was not in practice. However, goaltender Frederik Andersen was in net after missing the final game of the regular season.

According to the Toronto Sun's Steve Simmons, a source is reporting that Zaistev, "will be all right to go" for Game 1 against the Capitals.

According to Sam Kasan of the Pens Inside Scoop, Evgeni Malkin said he will be back in the lineup for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday.


Washington Capitals

Defenceman John Carlson, who missed the last four games of the season with a lower-body injury, returned to practice on Tuesday and appears to be ready for Game 1 against the Toronto Maple Leafs Thursday night. The 27-year-old netted nine goals and 28 assists over 72 games in 2016-17.
