Anaheim Ducks

Forward Ryan Getzlaf missed the third period of Tuesday night's 2-1 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks. The team said Getzlaf suffered an upper-body injury, though the Orange County Register speculates Getzlaf suffered a left forearm injury while blocking a shot in the second period. 

Goaltender Jonathan Bernier also left the game, though after the first period, with an upper-body muscle injury. 

Both Bernier and Getzlaf will reevaluated on Wednesday. The Ducks host the Nashville Predators tonight.


Boston Bruins

Embedded ImageGeneral manager Don Sweeney released the following update on David Backes: "Backes underwent the removal of the olecranon bursa from his elbow on Monday, October 24. His condition will be updated after the weekend."

The team has recalled forward Austin Czarnik from the AHL to replace Backes. 

Rask on IR: Goaltender Tuuka Rask has been placed on injured reserve, retroactive to October 20. Rask can be activated in time for the team's Saturday contest against the New York Rangers. Rask is dealing with a lower-body injury.


Buffalo Sabres

Goaltender Robin Lehner remains under the weather. Anders Nilsson made 38 saves against the Philadelphia Flyers Tuesday night in a 4-3 shootout loss.


Montreal Canadiens

Frederick Andersen will start against the Florida Panthers. Peter Holland will not dress, instead Seth Griffith will draw into the lineup. James van Riemsdyk missed Wednesday's practice but will play Thursday night.

Drew Stafford will miss at least the next two games with an upper-body injury.
