Montreal Canadiens

Canadiens head coach Claude Julien told the Montreal Gazette on Monday the team had shut down defenceman Shea Weber indefinitely for the second time this season due to a foot injury.

Weber has not played since facing the Ottawa Senators in  the NHL 100 Classic on Dec. 16. He resumed skating on Feb. 7 after having a walking removed.

Julien said Monday Weber was not "feeling comfortable" in his rehab from the injury, which he played through early in the season.

The Gazette does not expect Weber to suit up again for the Canadiens this season. Julien said Monday Weber would only return once he was 100 per cent.

The 32-year-old has six goals and 16 points in 26 games this season while averaging 25:21 of ice time per contest.
