Absent from practice for maintenance Wednesday, both Joffrey Lupul and Leo Komarov returned to practice Thursday and are expected in the lineup Friday in Carolina. Nick Spaling, sidelined Tuesday with an upper-body injury, is questionable to play against the Hurricanes. Spaling took part in practice, rotating with Byron Froese on the Leafs checking line. James Reimer is expected to start on Friday.
