Pittsburgh Penguins

Goaltender Matt Murray was not on the ice for practice with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

Murray was a surprise scratch in Game 1 against the Columbus Blue Jackets Wednesday night due to a lower-body injury. Marc-Andre Fleury, who was informed he was starting after warm-ups, made 31 saves in the 3-1 win.

Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan classified the injury as lower body, and said Murray is day-to-day.

Fleury will start again in Game 2 on Friday, while Tristan Jarry will serve as the team's backup.

Murray out started Fleury 49-38 in the regular season and a posted a 2.41 goals against average and .923 save percentage to Fleury's 3/02 GAA and .909 save percentage.

Trevor Daley and Bryan Rust were also unexpected absences for the Penguins on Thursday. Sullivan said after practice both players missed the practice for maitenance days.

Both Rust and Daley played against the Blue Jackets in Game 1, with Rust scoring the game's opening goal.

Ottawa Senators

Defenceman Marc Methot will once again be a game-time decision in Game 2 with a finger injury. 

Methot took to the ice for warm-ups against the Boston Bruins in Game 1, but did not dress for the game.

Head coach Guy Boucher said Thursday that he's hopeful Methot will return to lineup, but it will depend on his ability to shoot the puck.

Methot last played on March 23, when he suffered a broken finger on a slash by Sidney Crosby. He had 12 assists in 68 games during the regular season.


Toronto Maple Leafs

Head coach Mike Babcock said injured centre Eric Fehr is getting closer to a return. Fehr sustained an upper-body injury in his first game with the Leafs on March 22 against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was acquired by the Leafs from the Penguins at the trade deadline.
