Edmonton Oilers

Oilers coach Todd McLellan says Cam Talbot will miss at least two weeks, after he was placed on the injured reserve Thursday with an upper-body injury. McLellan said Talbot, "tweaked something" during Edmonton's 3-2 win over Arizona on Tuesday.

Edmonton has called up Nick Ellis from the Bakersfield Condors to take Talbot's place on the roster. Laurent Brossoit is expected to start Thursday against the Leafs.

The 30-year-old Talbot has played in 22 of Edmonton's 25 games this season, recording 10 wins, with a 3.00 goals-against average, and a .903 save precentage.

Calgary Flames

Jaromir Jagr will be in the Flames lineup tonight against the Arizona Coyotes. The 45-year-old was scratched with a lower-body injury for Calgary's 4-1 loss to the Maple Leafs on Tuesday. Jagr has one goal and five assists in 14 games this season. 

RW Garnet Hathaway has been called up from the Stockton Flames. Hathaway has 11 goals and eight assists for Calgary's AHL affiliate this season.

Montreal Canadiens 

C Jonathan Drouin did not travel with the team to Detroit and is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury, according to the Montreal Gazette. Drouin leads the Canadiens in points with five goals and 12 assists. Darren Dreger reported that the injury was minor but that Drouin is doubtful for Friday's game aginst the Red Wings. 

D Shea Weber will travel with the Canadiens to Detroit but it remains unclear if he will return to the lineup against the Red Wings. Weber leads Montreal defencemen in points with four goals and nine assists, but has been out of the lineup since a 6-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov. 18.  


 

Ottawa Senators 

D Chris Wideman will meet with doctors today to determine if he needs surgery on his torn hamstring. Wideman has been out since Nov. 16 and is expected to miss the rest of the season if he choices surgery. In 16 games for the Senators in 2017-18 he's scored three goals and five assists.  


 

Toronto Maple Leafs 

C Auston Matthews will play Thursday night against the Edmonton Oilers, according to head coach Mike Babcock. The Leafs' leading scorer missed morning practice with an illness but it is unrelated to the injury that kept him out for six games earlier this season.

Vancouver Canucks 

General Manager Jim Benning has announced that RW Derek Dorsett's NHL career is likely over and that he will not return to Vancouver's active roster. Dorsett had cervical disc herniation surgery in December of 2016 but was able to return at the beginning of the 2017-18 season. But after suffering from back and neck stifness this seaosn he was shutdown.

Dorsett's doctors have advised the 30-year-old to not play hockey again. He appeared in 20 games for the Canucks this season, recording nine goals and two assists, before being shut down.


 

Anaheim Ducks 

Ryan Getzlaf is now travelling with the team and General Manager Bob Murray believes he and Ryan Kesler (hip) will be back by mid-Decermber. The Ducks captain has been out since Oct. 29 after he took a puck to the face against the Carolina Hurricanes. He has appeared in only six games this season, recording one goal and six assists. 

RW Jakob Silfverberg was held out of the third period of the Ducks' 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday for precautionary reasons. The 27-year-old has six goals and six assists in 25 games this season. It remains unclear if Silfverberg will be available for Friday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. 

Joseph Blandisi will report to the Anaheim Ducks after being traded from the New Jersey Devils on Thursday. The 23-year-old has not played an NHL game this season.  


 

Minnesota Wild 

LW Zach Parise skated for the first time on Wednesday since having back surgery on Oct. 24. He was on the ice for 45 minutes with skating coach Diane Ness at the Wild's practice facilty. The 33-year-old has not played a game this season and their is no tim-table on his return. 

The Wild claimed D Nate Prosser from the St. Louis Blues. The 31-year-old played the first eight years of his career in Minnesota before moving to St. Louis this season. He only played one game for the Blues. 


 

New York Rangers

The team has announced that C Mika Zibanejad is out due to a concussion, that had previously been reported as an upper-body injury. The 24-year-old leads the Rangers in points with with 11 goals and 11 assists. Zibanejad skated during practice on Tuesday but was held out of the lineup during the Rangers 3-2 loss to Florida. 

D Ryan McDonagh is expecting to return to the Rangers lineup on Friday night against the Carolina Hurricanes. New York's captain has missed the last four games with an abdominal injury. McDonagh has 12 assists in 21 games this season. 


 

Tamp Bay Lightening 

C Cedric Paquette will have a hearing with the league over his hit on Bruins D Torey Krug. The incident happened behind the Bruins net in the second period of Wednesday's 3-2 loss to Boston. Paquette was given a two-minute penalty for boarding and Krug was not injured on the play.


 

Vegas Golden Knights

LW David Perron and LW William Carrier have been placed on injured reserve, both with upper-body injuries. Perron has six goals and 13 assists in 21 games and Carrier has one goal and one assist in 20 games.

D Luca Sbisa has been activated from injured reserve and could play Thursday against the Minnesota Wild. The 27-year-old has been out since Nov. 10. Sbisa has one goal and seven assists in 16 games.   

 

Trades

The New Jersey Devils have acquired D Sami Vatanen and a conditional third-round draft pick from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for C Adam Henrique, LW Joseph Blandisi, and a 2018 third-round draft pick. Henrique has 10 goals and four assists for the Devils this season, Vatanen has one goal, three assists for the Ducks. 

The Montreal Canadiens have traded C Peter Holland to the New York Rangers for RW Adam Cracknell. Holland has not played a game for Montreal this season, and Cracknell has no points in five games in New York. 


 

Spengler Cup  

According to Darren Dreger, sources say NHL veteran Jarome Iginla will not be ready for the Spengler Cup and now seems a "long shot" to play for Team Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
