Forward Zach Parise is not expected to be out long-term after leaving Tuesday's overtime loss to the Captials in the first period due to a high-stick from Tom Wilson

Head coach Bruce Boudreau said Parise can see, but is sore in the upper-body. Parise owns 17 goals and 37 points in 64 games this season.

Detroit Red Wings

Defenceman Luke Glendening suffered a fractured ankle/ foot against the Carolina Hurricanes and will be shut down for the team's final six games. Red Wings GM Ken Holland said it's unclear whether Glendening will need to undergo surgery. Glendening, 27, owns three goals and 14 points in 74 games this season. - MLive.

Toronto Maple Leafs

(From the Canadian Press) - Frederik Andersen expects to return to the Toronto Maple Leafs crease Thursday night in Nashville.

The 27-year-old took part in an optional Leafs practice Wednesday afternoon and sounded optimistic that he would start against the Predators.

"We'll see on the plane, but I'm looking pretty positive and I feel ready to go," Andersen said before the two-hour flight to Nashville.

Andersen was injured last Saturday in Buffalo when he was bumped in the head by Sabres forward William Carrier. He sat out Tuesday's game with an undisclosed upper-body ailment.

Curtis McElhinney made a relief start Tuesday and made 25 saves in a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers.

The Leafs loaned goaltender Garrett Sparks to the Toronto Marlies. Sparks served as backup on Tuesday night.

Al Montoya is still day-to-day with a lower body injury. After practice, the team sent Zach Fucale back to Brampton of the ECHL and brought up Charlie Lindgren from St. John's of the AHL as an emergency call-up. Head coach Claude Julien says Carey Price will start on Thursday against Florida, but added that the No. 1 netminder won't start every game for the remainder of the season.

Minnesota Wild

Struggling down the stretch, the Wild recalled top forward prospect Joel Eriksson Ek from his Swedish team for the rest of the season. He arrived in Minnesota on Tuesday and is expected to practice with the team on Wednesday.

Eriksson Ek scored for the Wild in his NHL debut in October and had two goals and three assists in nine games before being reassigned. He had eight goals and eight assists in 26 games for Farjestad BK in the Swedish Elite League.

He'll use the first year of his rookie contract by playing one more game.
