Brock Nelson agreed to a three-year contract with the New York Islanders on Wednesday that is reportedly worth $7.5 million.

According to Arthur Staple of Newsday, the deal breaks down as being worth $1.5 million in the first season, $2.5 million in the second, and $3.5 million in the third.

The restricted free agent was without a contract after rejecting a qualifying offer from the Islanders in June.

The 23-year-old scored 20 goals and added 22 assists in 82 games with the Islanders last season.

He owns 34 goals and 34 assists in 154 career NHL games all with the Islanders.

Nelson was drafted in the first round, 30th overall, of the 2010 NHL Draft.
