The Toronto Blue Jays announced on Tuesday that starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez underwent a procedure on his right middle finger to remove a portion of the nail in Kansas City on Monday.

The team expects Sanchez to resume throwing in a matter of days.

Sanchez, 24, was placed on the 10-game disabled list on Sunday with a blister in the same finger.

In two starts this season, Sanchez is 0-1 with a 4.38 earned run average and a WHIP of 1.216 over 12.1 innings pitched.

The team also announced on Tuesday that starter J.A. Happ was heading to the 10-day DL with elbow soreness. Infielder Ty Kelly was recalled from the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons in a corresponding move.
