SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz say forward Alec Burks underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle Tuesday and is out indefinitely.

Burks has not played this season as he rehabbed from arthroscopic surgery on the same ankle and left knee in June. Recovery has been slow, as he was expected to be ready for training camp.

Injuries have plagued Burks, who missed 50 games with a broken left fibula in 2015-16 and 55 games the previous season because of shoulder surgery.

The Jazz keep waiting for the 6-foot-6, 214-pounder to provide a scoring punch off the bench, but injuries have kept him sidelined. The No. 12 overall pick from the 2011 draft averaged 13.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists as the sixth man last season when healthy.
