The team announced that the 28-year-old goaltender native had been placed on IR with a knee sprain earlier on Monday.

Pavelec incurred the injury during the second period of the Jets' 3-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday when he collided with Coyotes' captain Shane Doan, who was pushed into the crease by Jets' defenceman Mark Stuart. The team recalled goaltender Connor Hellebuyck from Manitoba of the American Hockey League on Sunday.

In 15 appearances this season, Pavelec is 5-6-1 with a 2.82 goals against average and a save percentage of .906. The Kladno, Czech Republic native is in his ninth season with the organization.

The Jets, winners of two straight, sit 10-9-2 on 22 points. They are sixth in the Central Division and two points adrift of the Chicago Blackhawks for the final Western Conference wild card spot. They conclude a three-game homestand on Monday night with a visit from the Colorado Avalanche.

Michael Hutchinson is expected to get the start in net.
