TORONTO — Ottawa's Rachel Homan remained winless at the Players' Championship, losing her final round-robin game 8-3 to Scotland's Eve Muirhead in Friday's evening draw.

Homan (0-5) had difficulty holding off her opponent right from the start as Muirhead opened with three points in the first end at Mattamy Athletic Centre. Muirhead added a deuce in the fifth to put the game out of reach.

Winnipeg's Jennifer Jones, meanwhile, stayed undefeated by downing South Korea's EunJung Kim 8-2 in the afternoon draw of the Grand Slam of Curling tournament. Jones, the Pool A leader and reigning world champion, was the only women's skip to win all five of her round-robin games.

Muirhead (3-1) finished second in the pool above American Nina Roth (3-2) and Team Rocque (2-3) skipped by Edmonton's Laura Crocker. Kim was 1-4 and Homan finished last.

Anna Hasselborg (4-1) of Sweden defeated Calgary's Chelsea Carey (1-4) 7-3 in six ends in the late draw to finish first in Pool B.

Also in Pool B, Winnipeg's Kerri Einarson (3-2) was a 7-6 winner over American Jamie Sinclair (3-2) and Switzerland's Silvana Tirinzoni (2-3) beat Japan's Satsuki Fujisawa (2-3) 8-2.

The playoffs were set to begin Saturday and the finals were scheduled for Sunday.

Calgary's Kevin Koe led the men with a perfect 5-0 record in Pool B when he beat Brendan Bottcher (1-4) of Edmonton 6-4 in the afternoon draw. Brad Gushue of St. John's, N.L., followed at 4-1 after a 7-6 victory over Winnipeg's Reid Carruthers (1-4).

Toronto's John Epping and American John Shuster were 2-3.

Niklas Edin (4-1) led Pool A. The Swedish player capped his round-robin schedule with a 5-4, extra-end win over Brad Jacobs (1-4) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

Jason Gunnlaugson of Winnipeg and Mike McEwen, also of Winnipeg, were 3-2 while Bruce Mouat and Kyle Smith, both of Scotland, were 2-3.
