Jones edges Sweeting in Skins Game final
Canadian curling legend Jennifer Jones defeated Edmonton's Val Sweeting in this afternoon's Pinty's All-Star Curling Skins Game women's final on Sunday at the Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre. Team Jones took home $40,000 thanks to winning the final end on a measurement.

BANFF, ALTA. – Canadian curling legend Jennifer Jones defeated Edmonton's Val Sweeting in this afternoon's Pinty's All-Star Curling Skins Game women's final at the Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre in Banff, Alta.
Team Jones, which also features Kaitlyn Lawes, Jill Officer, and Dawn McEwen, took home the victory by winning $40,000 in Sunday's final. Combined with their $14,000 earnings from yesterday semifinal, Team Jones pocketed a total of $54,000 after this weekend's Pinty's All-Star Curling Skins Game. Overall, Jones' TSN skins game career earnings now total $85,000.
Competing in their second consecutive TSN skins game, Team Sweeting, which features Lori Olson-Johns, Dana Ferguson, and Rachel Brown, did not go home empty handed, walking away with a total of $31,500 in prize money from this weekend's Pinty's All-Star Curling Skins Game (see below for a breakdown of earnings results). Overall, Sweeting's TSN skins game career earnings now total $41,500.
Draw Summary
Sweeting made it to the board first, winning the opening $2,000 skin. The next end saw Sweeting steal the skin with an incredible runback takeout to double her tally. With $3,000 at stake in the third, Jones picked up two for the skin to get on the board and narrow the game. On her final stone in the fourth, Sweeting attempted a tough hit and roll but could not score the deuce, resulting in a carry-over. Holding last rock in the fifth, Jones was unsuccessful in a tough angle runback attempt for two, leading to another carry-over. A big $13,000 skin was on the line in the sixth – and Jones missed the opportunity to steal, allowing Sweeting to secure a sizeable lead ($17,000 to $3,000). The seventh end saw Jones make a beautiful draw to the pin with her final stone to force a carry-over – and stay in the game. It all came down to the final stone in the eighth end, with Jones picking up the whopping $37,000 skin to secure the victory.
