Ottawa Senators defenceman Erik Karlsson incurred an apparent leg injury in the second period of Game 4 Thursday, after he collided with New York Rangers forward Chris Kreider. Karlsson appeared to be in pain and was seen limping following the end of the period.
The defenceman failed to return once play resumed in the third.
The Rangers went on to beat the Senators 4-1, and following the game, Ottawa head coach Guy Boucher provided an update on Karlsson's status. Boucher said his defenceman incurred a lower-body injury and that the decision was made to hold him out of the rest of the game, but that he was capable of returning.
The coach added that he expects Karlsson to play in Game 5 Saturday.
