Washington Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov left the game in the second period against the New York Islanders with an upper-body injury and did not return.

He was tripped up on a rush to the net and crashed hard into the end boards near the end of the second period. He will be re-evaluated Saturday.

Head coach Barry Trotz did not have an update after the game but added the team expects to know more the following day.

In 71 games so far this season, the 25-year-old has 21 goals and 50 assists.

Following their 6-3 win, the Capitals will be back in action Sunday in Philadelphia to take on the Flyers.
