PETERBOROUGH, Ont. (CP) - Scott Evans's four goals and six points lifted Peterborough Lakers to their second Mann Cup win in three years.

Peterborough defeated Victoria Shamrocks 17-10  to clinch the best-of-seven Canadian Lacrosse Association senior championship in five games. It avenged a loss the Lakers suffered to Victoria in last year's Mann Cup.

''It's awesome,'' said team captain Jason Clark. ''It never gets old, winning. It was tough last year, losing out there but coming back home in front of all our fans was awesome.

''Our goaltending was strong and we're a real deep team. When you got guys like Tracey Kelusky and Johnny Grant, you can shut them down for a period or two but you can't shut guys like that down for a whole game.''

Peterborough now has both the Mann Cup and Minto Cup titles after the junior Lakers won the national junior A title earlier this month.

Dan Carey was named Mann Cup MVP after scoring two goals and adding an assists. John Grant Jr., who led all scorers with 34 points in five games, had two goals and two assists. Minto Cup MVP Shawn Evans, a call-up to the Lakers, had two goals and two assists and Ryan Sharp scored twice.

Tracey Kelusky had a goal and three assists and Brian Croswell, Jason Clark and Kyle Laverty also scored. Mat Giles had the winning goal.

Lewis Ratcliff topped Victoria with four goals and two assists. Nolan Heavenor scored three while Tyler Heavenor, D'Arcy Berthiaume and Dan Dawson also scored for Victoria.

Pat O'Toole picked up the win in goal and Anthony Cosmo suffered the loss.
