WORCESTER, Mass. - Bryan Lerg scored twice in the first period and Aaron Dell made 24 saves as the Worcester Sharks downed the visiting St. John's IceCaps 3-1 on Friday in American Hockey League action.

Rylan Schwartz also scored for the Sharks (33-23-6), who won for the first time in three outings.

J.C. Lipon supplied the scoring for the IceCaps (29-28-8), who remain seven points out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 11 games to play.

Connor Hellebuyck turned aside 18-of-20 shots for St. John's.

Worcester went 0 for 4 on the power play while the IceCaps failed to convert on six chances with the man advantage.
