The Toronto Marlies have invited Blake Kessel - Phil's brother - to training camp.

The Toronto Maple Leafs' American Hockey League affiliate released its full training camp roster on Friday and the 25-year-old Kessel's name was included amongst the invited defencemen.

Kessel bounced around a good deal in 2013-14, playing with four different clubs in the American and East Coast Hockey Leagues.

He spent the majority of his time with the ECHL's Orlando Solar Bears, who are the Marlies' affiliate. In 43 games with Orlando he posted seven goals and 26 assists. He also spent time with the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors (scoring one goal and two assists in four games), the AHL's Rochester Americans (two assists in eight games) and Rockford Ice Hogs (no points in three games).

Originally drafted in the sixth round (166th overall) by the New York Islanders, Kessel has never appeared in an NHL game. In 74 career AHL games over parts of three seasons he has scored three goals and 21 assists.

Kessel is joined on the camp roster by the 13 players assigned by the Maple Leafs on Thursday.
