It appears Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock is examining the possibility of Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner becoming linemates on a more consistent basis.

Matthews and Marner were on the same line at practice Thursday, a night after playing together in a loss against the Florida Panthers. The pair were on the same line in Saturday's win against the Montreal Canadiens as well.

Matthews, 20, has put up great numbers in his second season with 12 goals and nine assists over 19 games. Marner, 20, has struggled with just two goals and 14 assists.

Zach Hyman, who left Thursday's game after a spotter pull him for a suspected concussion, returned to practice on Thursday and skated on the top line.

Matt Martin and Dominic Moore did not take part in line rushes. Martin expects to be a healthy scratch Friday when the Maple Leafs play the Carolina Hurricanes.
