Projected first overall pick Auston Matthews has been ranked as the top international prospect in the NHL Central Scouting midterm rankings.

Matthews, who is playing for the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League A this season, ranked above Finnish stars Jesse Puljujarvi and Patrik Laine.

Rasmus Asplund and Carl Grundstrom of Sweden rounded out the top five on the International skater list.

Matthew Tkachuk, a teammate of Matthews on Team USA at the World Juniors, was ranked as top prospect in North America. Canadian defenceman Jakob Chychrun was ranked second, ahead of Swedish winger Alexander Nylander.

Julien Gauthier and and Olli Juolevi rounded out the North American skaters top five.

Carter Hart was the top ranked goaltender in North America, while Filip Gustavsson was ranked as the top International goaltender.
