Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - James McCann smacked a walk-off solo homer in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Detroit Tigers rallied for a 5-4 win over the Chicago White Sox in the rubber match of a three-game set.

The Tigers trailed 4-0 after seven innings and registered just two hits against Chicago starter Jeff Samardzija before plating four in the eighth.

McCann stepped up with one out in ninth and cracked his blast over the wall in left against Zach Putnam (1-3) to win it for Detroit.

McCann finished with two hits and a pair of runs scored for the Tigers, who have won five of their last seven games.

Joakim Soria (3-0) tossed a scoreless top of the ninth to earn the win.

Melky Cabrera belted a solo shot among his three hits for Chicago, which dropped the final two games of the set.

The White Sox plated the first two runs of the game in the fourth and added two more in the sixth.

Jose Abreu led off with a double in the fourth and advanced to third on Yoenis Cespedes' fielding error in left. Abreu scored on Avisail Garcia's sacrifice fly to left. Cabrera followed by launching his solo shot halfway up the seats in left-center.

Adam Eaton tripled to begin the sixth, Abreu was hit by a pitch and Eaton was pushed across when Garcia fisted a base hit into right. Cabrera singled to put runners on the corners and Adam LaRoche's sacrifice fly to left brought home Abreu for a 4-0 White Sox advantage.

McCann and Anthony Gose sandwiched singles around a Jose Iglesias walk to load the bases in the eighth before Ian Kinsler was hit by a pitch to plate McCann. Miguel Cabrera struck out but Victor Martinez laced a double into the gap in left-center to clear the bases and tie the game at 4-4.

Tigers starter David Price allowed four runs on six hits with five strikeouts over six innings, while Samardzija surrendered four runs on five hits and three walks over 7 1/3 frames ... Detroit was 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position, while the White Sox finished 2-for-4.
