Kelly McCrimmon has decided to stay with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League.

McCrimmon was offered a front office position with the Toronto Maple Leafs but the lure of a potential Memorial Cup run was too much to pass up.

"I have made the decision to remain with the Wheat Kings," says McCrimmon, the owner, general manager and head coach of the Wheat Kings. "I was honoured to have been considered for a position with the Maple Leafs. It would have been a tremendous opportunity."

Last season, the Wheat Kings won the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as WHL regular season champions, losing just 11 games.

With 18 returning players, McCrimmon decided to stay with the team in hopes of a long and successful playoff run.

"With our team expected to contend this season, I felt I owed it to the group to stay here and try to help us take the next step."
