Odd Man Out?

With the Boston Red Sox reported signings of Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval, Jon Morosi is reporting that Yoenis Cespedes may be the odd man out. Ramirez is rumoured to slide into left field, leaving Cespedes as an attractive trade piece in Boston's outfield that includes Shane Victorino, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Mookie Betts.

One fit for Cespedes could be the Cincinnati Reds, who have starting pitching to move and need right-handed power in left field. Boston still needs pitching.

Moving Down the Bay?

According to Ken Rosenthal, the World Series champion San Francisco Giants could be the latest team to pursue Jon Lester.

With the savings the team now has after Sandoval signed in Boston, the Giants have begun its pursuit of the left-hander.

Not Breaking the Bank

Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Texas Rangers are leaning towards trading prospects in hopes of acquring talent instead of spending big money on free agents.

Shortstop Elvis Andrus is not expected to be moved as the team believes he is headed for a big year.

While pitching is the team's main focus, the team has spoken with the Atlanta Braves about outfielder Justin Upton.

Fallback Option

Melky Cabrera could be a fallback option for the Baltimore Orioles if they are unable to re-sign Nick Markakis, Roch Kubatko of MASN is reporting.

The Toronto Blue Jays are still holding out hope that Cabrera will re-up with the team. The team's left fielder hit .301 with 171 hits, but missed 33 games due to injury.

The Blue Jays are still in the chase for Cabrera, as The Toronto Star's Richard Griffin reports that the team should not be ruled out yet and that both sides are waiting for the marker to settle before they move forward with talks.
