The Toronto Blue Jays have reportedly signed career backup catcher Humberto Quintero.

The veteran of 12 MLB seasons, last played in the pros with the Seattle Mariners in 2014.

Gardner for Castro?

The New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs have reportedly discussed a deal to swap outfielder Brett Gardner for shortstop/second baseman Starlin Castro, according to the New York Daily News.  

Castro, 26, hit .265 with 11 homers and 69 RBIs with the Cubs last season and will make $38 million over the next four years on his current contract. 

Gardner, 31, hit .259 with 16 home runs and 66 RBIs in 2015 with the Yankees, his eighth with the club. He is owed $38 million over three years on his current deal. 

New Home For Lind?

Former Toronto Blue Jay Adam Lind could be on the trading block after just one season with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The 32-year-old hit .277 with 20 homers and 87 RBIs over 149 with the Brewers in 2015 after the Blue Jays traded him for Marco Estrada last winter. Lind has one year and $8 million left on his current deal. 

Fading Interest?

Despite reports Wednesday that the Atlanta Braves were targeting prized reliever Darren O'Day, the team now appears to be taking a step back. The price tag was reported to be a four-yeal deal worth between $28 million and $36 million, which is getting to be too high according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman.

WOW factor

New York Yankees closer Andrew Miller has been floating around the rumour mill recently, however, word from two major league executives says the team won't give him away without a fight.

"They need to be overwhelmed," one executive said. He also said that Yankees GM Brian Cashman would need "a big return" to move Miller.

Miller signed a three-year, $27 million deal last winter.

Roberts or Kapler?

The Los Angeles Dodgers will likely announce their decision regarding their new manager on Sunday or Monday. Dave Roberts and Gabe Kapler are reportedly the two remaining candidates vying for the position.

Don Mattingly was fired by the organization after the Dodgers were eliminated by the New York Mets in the NLDS. Mattingly was the manager for five years in LA.

Ozuna on the Move?

The Miami Marlins are reportedly looking to deal centrefielder Marcell Ozuna who may not be best of friends with owner Jeffrey Loria.

The 24-year-old Ozuna hit .259 with 10 homers and 44 RBIs over 123 games with the Marlins in 2015.
