Jays looking at Gomez, Gonzalez

The Toronto Blue Jays are looking at both outfielders Carlos Gomez and Carlos Gonzalez, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

Gonzalez appeared in 136 games last season for the Colorado Rockies and contributed 14 homers and 57 RBI while hitting .262. The 10-year MLB veteran blasted a career-high 40 homers in 2015 and has spent all but one season in the MLB with Colorado. He made his debut with the Oakland Athletics in 2008.

Gomez played 105 games with the Texas Rangers in 2017 and finished the year with 17 home runs and 51 RBI.  The 32-year-old hit .255 with a .340 on base percentage. He has also spent time with the Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins and New York Mets over his 11-year career.

Cardinals making progress on Ozuna trade

The St. Louis Cardinals are moving closer to a deal to acquire Marcell Ozuna from the Miami Marlins, according Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

J.D. Martinez meetings

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Boston Red Sox are both expected to meet with free-agent outfielder J.D. Martinez on Wednesday. The 30-year-old split time last season between the Diamonbacks and Detroit Tigers and hit 45 homers and drove in 104 runs in 119 games.

 Danny Salazar trade in the works?

The Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians have discussed a possible trade involving pitcher Danny Salazar, according to Bruce Levine of 670 The Score in Chicago. The Indians would be looking to extract a left-handed hitter from the Cubs in the exchange.  Salazar posted a 5-6 record and 4.28 ERA last season in 23 games, including 19 starts, for the Indians.

Scott Boras opens Bryce Harper contract talks with Nationals.

Bryce Harper's agent Scott Boras says he opened contract extension talks with the Washington Nationals last month. Harper is set to become a free agent after the 2018 season and is expected to command one of the richest deals in MLB history.

 

Yankees interested in Corbin, Drury

The New York Yankees have spoken to the Arizona Diamondbacks about pitcher Patrick Corbin and infielder Brandon Drury, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
