The Major League Baseball non-waiver trade deadline is Friday at 4pm ET. Leading up to the deadline, TSN.ca looks in at all of the rumours and trade talk as contenders attempt to load up for a playofff run. The Houston Astros have picked up outfielder Carlos Gomez and pitcher Mike Fiers from the Milwaukee Brewers while the New York Yankees have acquired Dustin Ackley from the Seattle Mariners.

12:25am ET: San Francisco Giants are trying to add one of the best available arms from the Cincinnati Reds

9:20pm ET: Diamondbacks are trying to acquire hard throwing closer Aroldis Chapman from the Cincinnati Reds.

9:10pm ET: Mets still trying to add outfield help could be looking for a big bat from the Reds.

9:00pm ET: Yankees could be looking for bullpen help by adding one of the best closers in the game.

7:33pm ET: After believing he was traded to the New York Mets, Carlos Gomez and his teammate Mike Fiers are headed to the Houston Astros.

6:05pm ET: Pittsburgh Pirates add one of the best bullpen arms available in a trade with the Tigers.

5:20pm ET: Baltimore Orioles trying to put together a package to acquire one of the Tigers' biggest bats.

5:00pm ET: Rumoured to be sellers themselves, it looks like the Chicago White Sox might be prepared to flip the script.

4:30pm ET: We've got another trade. Dustin Ackley is on his way to the New York Yankees. The 27-year-old second baseman-turned-outfielder is hitting .215 with six home runs and 19 RBI with an .OPS of .635.

4:20pm ET: With Troy Tulowitzki and David Price already in the fold, Alex Anthopoulos still might not be done wheeling and dealing.

3:45pm ET: With the Tigers in sell mode, they won't have to look outside the division for a potential trade partner for pending free agent outfielder Yoenis Cespedes. The Cuban slugger is hitting .289 with 17 home runs and 58 RBI this season in all 101 games.

3:40pm ETNot a trade, but movement, nonetheless. Daniel Nava has been designated for assignment by the Boston Red Sox. The 32-year-old has struggled mightily this year, hitting just .152 with a .442 OPS in 29 games played.

3:35pm ET: The Jays and Tigers have grabbed the headlines on Thursday, but is there another significant trade still in the cards for later in the day?

3:20pm ET: The Tigers won't be wasting any time when it comes to utilizing one of their new assets.

3:15pm ET: While there was some debate over how well Jose Bautista handled the trade of his good friend Jose Reyes to the Colorado Rockies, there isn't any doubt over his reaction to the Price acquisition.

2:58pm ET: Pineda is, in fact, heading to the DL.

2:52pm ET: The Braves were also very interested in Olivera last winter before he signed with the Dodgers.

2:47pm ET: The New York Yankees are still looking to add to their bullpen.

2:45pm ET: It doesn't look like Mariners pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma will be on the move.

2:35pm ET: An update on just how badly Pineda might be hurt.

2:30pm ET: On Tuesday, Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon told embattled shortstop Starlin Castro that he wasn't being traded and then went ahead and started rookie Addison Russell in his place on Wednesday night. Castro says he wants to stay with Cubs, so Jayson Stark's latest can't be what he wants to hear.

2:25pm ET: In missing out on Hamels and Price whilst retaining top prospects, are we witnessing a change in philosophy from the spendthrift Dodgers?

2:20pm ET: With the Jays having thrown down the AL East gauntlet over the past couple of days, are the Bronx Bombers lying in wait to make their move?

2:18pm ET: Now finally consummated, the three-team deal includes a whopping 13 players.

2:15pm ET: Improbably, it appears Bronson Arroyo has been dealt for a second time this season. The 38-year-old is still recovering from last July's Tommy John surgery.

2:05pm ET: Wednesday's big three-way deal with Dodgers, Marlins and Braves that still isn't finished...well, it is finished.

1:50pm ET: Not a trade, but news that could precipitate one. The Yankees have scratched Michael Pineda from his scheduled start on Thursday with forearm soreness. With Ivan Nova hurting, too, will Brian Cashman be forced into a move?

1:45pm ET: Wednesday's big three-way deal with Dodgers, Marlins and Braves that still isn't finished...well, it still isn't finished.

1:25pm ET: Assuming Price takes the Sunday start for the Jays at home to the Royals as expected, he would be in line for approximately 13 starts before season's end.

1:20pm ET: Not only did the Reds get a considerable haul from the Royals, Mike Leake could fetch some more quality. The 27-year-old Leake is 9-5 in 21 starts this season for the NL Central strugglers. The native of San Diego has an ERA of 3.56 and a 1.149 WHIP in 136.1 innings of work.

1:15pm ET: The Royals appeared to set the market for rental starters last Friday in the Cueto deal, but some believe their package to the Reds exceeded what the Jays offloaded for Price.

1:08pm ET: New Tiger Daniel Norris already has a connection to the team, while Matt Boyd is related to baseball royalty and a former FLOTUS.

1:05pm ET: Whether or not the Jays are finished is yet to be determined.

1:02pm ET: A divisional rival is impressed with Alex Anthopoulos's last 48 hours.

1:00pm ET: Jairo Labourt is the third prospect in the deal.

12:58pm ET: The Tigers will not be retaining any salary in the Price deal.

12:55pm ET: Alford NOT headed to Tigers.

12:50pm ET: The Tigers might not be finished before the deadline.

12:42pm ET: Details are still emerging on the David Price-to-Toronto trade.

12:35pm ET: DONE DEAL. David Price is a Toronto Blue Jay.

12:30pm ET: Is Justin Smoak about to give up his #14 jersey?

12:25pm ET: There is some consensus to the names being bandied about in the Jays-Tigers talk.

12:17pm ET: Luis Severino is considered the top prospect in the New York Yankees' system. The Yankees have been loath to include the young right-hander in any trade offer.

12:15pm ET: The San Francisco Giants were hopeful on adding an arm earlier in the week. It doesn't appear to be David Price.

12:10pm ET: Could another team swoop in and grab Price from the Jays?

12:05pm ET: The Jays made a significant offer for Indians starter Carlos Carrasco last week in Hoffman, Norris and Dalton Pompey. While that deal eventually fell through, it was close to consummation, but it appears that the Tribe has backed off from selling arms.

12:00pm ET: It sounds like the Price derby might not last for much longer.

11:55am ET: Anthony Alford was highly recruited out of high school for both football and baseball. He went with baseball and is now a coveted asset in the Jays' system and could be used to tempt the Tigers into a Price deal.

11:50am ET: The San Diego Padres brought in James Shields, Matt Kemp, the Upton brothers, Craig Kimbrel, Wil Myers and more last offseason to contend. It hasn't worked with the Friars sitting at 48-53 and well out of the NL West hunt. Is it time to blow it up already?

11:45am ET: The Troy Tulowitzki trade cost the Jays highly prized pitchers and Jeff Hoffman and Miguel Castro. What would it cost to reel in the biggest fish?

11:40am ET: Jim Bowden was involved in baseball management for 17 years and he thinks we've seen a rarity today in the Moss trade: the Cards getting fleeced.

11:25am ET: Maybe the Jays don't like Gallardo as much as previously thought.

11:20am ET: The Tampa Bay Rays trading away a Big League arm for prospects is nothing new and it looks like Nathan Karns could be next. The 27-year-old is 6-5 with a 3.37 ERA and a WHIP of 1.209 over 115 IP in 20 starts.

11:05am ET: Ben Revere played the first three years of his career in the American League with the Minnesota Twins. The Philadelphia Phillies could be sending him back to the Junior Circuit.

10:55am ET: Even with the acquisition of Hamels, the Rangers still could be in sell mode. Yovani Gallardo has a no-trade clause, but that wouldn't preclude a trade to the Jays.

10:45am ET: With Moss expected to join up with his new Cardinals teammates later Thursday, it appears that Matt Holliday will be making way for him on the roster. The seven-time All-Star is dealing with a quad strain.

10:30am ET: Johnny Cueto is gone. Cole Hamels is gone. David Price is the only legitimate ace left on the market and the Detroit Tigers are not going to let him go for cheap.

10:25am ET: After Wednesday night's trade of Carlos Gomez to the New York Mets fell through, Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin has weighed in.

10:20am ET: With the Blue Jays' designating Felix Doubront on Wednesday, it's widely expected that a player from outside of the organization will take his spot in the rotation on Sunday. If the Jays are unable to acquire a starter before Friday's deadline, Scott Copeland, who is 1-1 with 6.46 ERA and a WHIP of 1.696 in five Major League appearances this season, is a candidate to step back into the rotation in August. He, along with two other promotion candidates in Joba Chamberlain and Phillippe Aumont, worked in the Buffalo Bisons' 8-5 win over a rehabbing Stephen Strasburg and the Syracuse Chiefs on Wednesday.

10:10am ET: The three-way trade that would see Mat Latos join the Los Angeles Dodgers and Mike Morse head to the Atlanta Braves is still not completed. The pair remains Miami Marlins for the time being.

10:00am ET: Thursday's only confirmed trade so far has seen the St. Louis Cardinals acquire former All-Star outfielder Brandon Moss from the Cleveland Indians. Moss was traded to the Tribe in December of last year after a 25 home run/81 RBI-campaign last season for the A's. It just never came together for Moss in Cleveland.

Rob Kaminsky, the lefty the Indians received in the deal for Moss, is a 2013 first-round pick. As his splits suggest, getting outs might not be a problem for the 20-year-old.
