The Texas Rangers have acquired outfielder Carlos Beltran from the New York Yankees in exchange for pitching prospect Dillon Tate, RHP Eric Swanson and RHP Nick Green, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports and Jack Curry of the YES Network.

Passan initially reported the deal with Curry confirming the inclusion of Swanson and Green.

The 39-year-old Beltran is batting .304 with 22 home runs and 64 RBIs in 99 games this season.

Loading Up

The Los Angeles Dodgers are loading up for a playoff push.

According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Dodgers have acquired outfielder Josh Reddick and pitcher Rich Hill from the Oakland Athletics for pitching prospect Jharel Cotton.

Outfield Assistance

The Cleveland Indians continue to stock up for their playoff push by acquiring outfielder Brandon Guyer from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for prospects.

Relief Work

The National League West-leading San Francisco Giants have reportedly added to their bullpen.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that 26-year-old reliever Will Smith is heading to the Bay area after a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline.

Passan is 1-3 this season with 22 innings in 27 appearances and an ERA of 3.66.

Alex Pavlovic of the CSN Bay Area reports that the Brewers will receive catcher prospect Andrew Susac and pitching prospect Phil Bickford.

Adding an Arm

The Boston Red Sox have added pitcher Fernando Abad, according to Jon Heyman.

Abad owns a 2.65 ERA and a 1-4 record in 39 games this season. 

Heyman reports Pat Light will be headed back to the Minnesota Twins for Abad. Light was a first round pick of the Red Sox in 2012.

Got Him This Time

The New York Mets have reportedly acquired Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jay Bruce, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Sherman reports centre fielder Brandon Nimmo is headed back to the Reds. Nimmo owns one home run and five RBI in 55 at-bats with the Mets this season. He was a first-round pick of the Mets in the 2011 MLB Draft.

Bruce owns a .265 batting average this season with 25 home runs and an NL-best 80 RBI. Bruce was named an All-Star this season for the first time since 2012.

The Mets made a push for Bruce on deadline day last season, but were unable to acquire the 29-year-old.

As Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports adds, Bruce could provide the Mets with an insurance policy in case Yoenis Cespedes opts out of his contract after this season.

Sale on Sale?

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports the Boston Red Sox have had talks with the Chicago White Sox in an attempt to acquire ace Chris Sale

Sale owns a 14-4 record with a 3.17 ERA in 20 starts this season. The All-Star's relationship with the White Sox has been strained, however, after a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team for cutting up the team's throwback jerseys last month.

The White Sox, 51-54, could also choose to keep Sale and attempt a playoff push. Sale is under contract with club options through 2019.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post believes that though teams will try hard to acquire Sale, a deal will not take place.

First move of the day?

The Seattle Mariners appear poised to make the first move of deadline day as they close in on a deal with the Cincinnati Reds.

The Mariners are trying to add shortstop Zach Cozart of the Reds. according to Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune.

Cozart, 30, is hitting .266 this season with 15 home runs and 41 RBI. 

The 52-51 Mariners currently platoon shortstop with Shawn O'Malley and Luis Sardinas, who have a combined two home runs and 14 RBI.

Mistake Made?

Adding Another Arm?

The Chicago Cubs bolstered their bullpen last month with the addition of closer Aroldis Chapman, however the team now appears to be focused on their rotation.

According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Cubs are searching for a starting pitcher and, despite an apparent need, will not overpay for a left-handed hitting left fielder.
