With the MLB Trade Deadline quickly approaching (Aug. 1), teams will need to decide if they are going to be buyers or sellers as we head into the final two months of the season. Check out TSN.ca's rumours blog for all you need to know about the MLB Trade Deadline.

Couple of Padres

On Friday, we reported on the rumours the Toronto Blue Jays could be interested in San Diego Padres pitcher Andrew Cashner; Saturday brings news the Jays could be looking at another Padres player, outfielder Melvin Upton Jr.

FOX Sports baseball reporter Ken Rosenthal reports the Jays have discussed acquiring Upton, possibly in a package deal with Cashner.

That news comes a day after Rosenthal also reported the Baltimore Orioles are also discussing acquiring Upton Jr. from the Padres.

Rosenthal reports the potential trade would include O's pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez going the other way but isn't yet close because the Padres also want a prospect in return for their outfielder.

Big Fish on the Market

Two big ticket pitchers appear available on the trade market and they both come from the same team.

According to MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman, the Chicago White Sox are contemplating a serious sale at the Trade Deadline, and that would include pitchers Chris Sale and Jose Quintana.

Heyman says the White Sox, predictably, have been inundated with calls of interest in the two.

The Boston Red Sox appear to be one of the teams most interested in the pitchers, especially Sale, while the Los Angeles Dodgers could also be players with both the cash and prospects to make a deal happen.

Heroes to Zeros?

One year after winning the World Series, are the Kansas City Royals considering selling off assets at the Trade Deadline?

MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman said the team is preparing for both scenarios as they near the August 1 deadline.

Players that could be up for grabs should the Royals decide to sell, according to Heyman, include relief pitchers Wade Davis and Kelvin Herrerra, starter Edinson Volquez, and maybe even outfielder Lorenzo Cain.
