Cream of the crop

Ray Durham
2006 TSN.ca Rating: 91.32
2006 Team: San Francisco Giants
Age: 34
2007 Team: San Francisco Giants (2 year, $14 million)
Notes: The 34-year old Durham had a career season for home runs and RBI. While he's no longer a base stealing threat, he is best power bat available at second in the free agent class.

Mark Loretta
2006 TSN.ca Rating: 73.28
2006 Team: Boston Red Sox
Age: 35
2007 Team: Houston Astros (1-year, $2.5 million)
Notes: Loretta was steady for the Red Sox in 2006. While his power numbers of 2003 and 2004 are not likely to return, he did hit 33 doubles and is reliable in the field. At 35, his best years are behind him, but he could be a solid option for a few seasons.

AB R HR RBI OBP AVG

Craig Biggio
2006 TSN.ca Rating: 73.03
2006 Team: Houston Astros
Age: 40
2007 Team: Houston Astros (1-year, $5.15 million)
Notes: Despite the fact that Biggio hit 21 home runs, he posted a career low .728 OPS. The Astros would love to bring the 19-year veteran back to the club because Biggio is only 70 base hits from reaching 3000 for his career.

Ronnie Belliard
2006 TSN.ca Rating: 73.69
2006 Team: Indians/Cardinals
Age: 31
2007 Team: Washington Nationals (minor-league deal)
Notes: Belliard is a decent hitting second baseman, but his batting average dropped over 50 points after being dealt to the Cardinals at the end of July. He's steady in the field and at 31 is one of the youngest options at the position.

AB R HR RBI OBP AVG

Adam Kennedy
2006 TSN.ca Rating: 73.32
2006 Team: Los Angeles Angels
Age: 30
2007 Team: St. Louis Cardinals (3-year, $10 million)
Notes: The sure-handed Kennedy hasn't hit double digits in home runs since the 2004 season. He's a decent fielder with some speed. He doesn't draw a lot of walks, likely making him an option for the bottom of a batting order.

AB R HR RBI SB AVG
