TORONTO - New Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos isn't looking to build a winner through short-term fixes.
In discussing his vision for running the team for the first time Saturday, Anthopoulos says he believes in sustained success through scouting and player development.
The goal is to field teams with the ability to consistently win 95 games, a number he feels is enough to get the Blue Jays back into the post-season.
That will likely take some time, as he feels his club has some of the core pieces needed but not enough of them.
His assessment puts ace Roy Halladay's future into question.
While Anthopoulos would like to keep him, he acknowledged the two sides have different timelines for winning and that he would listen to offers for all his players.
