Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - B.J. Upton hit a three-run homer and added a solo shot as the Tampa Bay Rays clobbered the Baltimore Orioles, 9-1, to complete a three-game sweep at Camden Yards.

Carlos Pena hit a three-run home run and scored twice, while Carl Crawford went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and one driven in for the Rays, who came into the series having dropped two of three to the Yankees.

Tampa Bay's David Price (2-0) worked seven strong innings, charged with just one run on four hits with a pair of walks and seven strikeouts.

Sitting at 6-3, Tampa Bay is off to the best start in franchise history.

Miguel Tejada hit a solo home run for the Orioles, who have dropped six straight games and eight of nine to start the season. Brad Bergesen (0-1) was hit around for eight runs -- five earned -- on seven hits over three-plus innings.

Tampa Bay jumped on top in the first inning. With one out, Crawford reached on a Tejada error, and after Ben Zobrist flied out, Evan Longoria kept the inning alive with a walk. Pena followed with a shot over the left-field wall for a 3-0 lead.

In the third, Tampa doubled its lead as Upton blasted a pitch over the left- field fence for a three-run homer, his first of the season.

The Rays continued to pour it on in the fourth. Dioner Navarro led off with a double and Sean Rodriguez was hit by a pitch. Crawford then brought a run home with a double and Jason Berken took over for Bergesen.

"You don't want to give them a chance to get back into it, and we didn't," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "That's the good thing because the next time through could be exactly the opposite. You don't want that."

Zobrist worked a walk to load the bases and Longoria followed with an RBI single. Berken, though, got Pena looking at strike three and induced a 6-4-3 double play from Upton to end the inning.

Baltimore finally got on the board in the home fourth on Tejada's leadoff home run.

Upton smacked his second home run of the game in the seventh for a 9-1 lead.

"It's not how you draw it up. You don't want to come in here and start like this," Orioles manager Dave Trembley said. "We certainly had a lot of opportunities to win our fair share of the games and we didn't."
