DUNEDIN, Fla. -- The Toronto Blue Jays claimed left-hander Cesar Cabral on waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday.

Cabral, 22, has made three relief appearances this spring for the Rays, posting a 4.91 ERA over 3 2/3 innings. The six-foot-three, 175-pound pitcher was selected by Tampa Bay in the 2010 Rule 5 Draft from the Boston Red Sox.

In 2010 he combined to post a 4-0 record with a 3.63 ERA in 45 appearances between Boston's single-A affiliates in Greenville and Salem.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Jays placed right-hander Dustin McGowan on the 60-day disabled list.
