The Toronto Blue Jays have lost another starting position player to the injury bug. The team placed first baseman/designated hitter Adam Lind on the 15-day disabled list on Monday, and recalled first baseman David Cooper from triple-A Las Vegas.

According to the team, Lind is suffering from a mid-back strain. The move was made retroactively to July 26.

Among position players, Toronto is already missing outfielder Jose Bautista and catcher J.P. Arencibia. The team has also been without several pitchers throughout the season.

There was some good news for the club though over the weekend. Brandon Morrow pitched three scoreless innings in his first rehab start for the Blue Jays' Class A Dunedin club on Sunday, allowing three hits, walking one and striking out two.

He gave up a single to the first batter he faced, then got a fly-ball out and started a 1-6-3 double play. Starting the second, he gave up two singles, got two ground balls for force plays and one strikeout. In the third, he walked the first batter, struck out the second and then forced a double-play grounder.

Morrow has been on the shelf since June 11 with a strained left oblique.

He will make one more appearance for Dunedin and two more for Double-A New Hampshire before being re-evaluated by the Blue Jays. If Morrow gets up to 85 pitches, he could be ready to return to the Toronto rotation, Blue Jays manager John Farrell told reporters Sunday.

Morrow has a 7-4 record and 3.01 ERA in 13 starts this season.
