The Toronto Blue Jays can scratch Sandy Alomar's name off their list of potential managers for 2013.

According to a tweet from Major League Baseball's official Twitter account, the 46-year-old Alomar will be returning to Cleveland next season to serve as the Indians' bench coach under new manager Terry Francona.

Alomar served as interim manager for the final six games of the Indians' 2012 season after the club fired manager Manny Acta.

Alomar had become a popular choice for the next manager amongst Blue Jays fans to replace John Farrell. He had been one of the lead candidates for the managerial vacancy when the club hired Farrell after the 2010 season.

Farrell was effectively traded to the Boston Red Sox on Oct. 21 when the team granted him his release, while swapping pitcher David Carpenter to the Sox in exchange for utility man Mike Aviles.

The team is still looking for Farrell's replacement and has lost a couple options off its potential shortlist already. The team's base coaches from 2012 - Brian Butterfield and Torey Lovullo - have already left the team to join Farrell in Boston.

The Jays have reportedly expressed interest in Arizona Diamondbacks third base coach Matt Williams and have been granted permission to interview the former third baseman for the open managerial job.
