The Seattle Mariners and their record contract extension with ace with Felix Hernandez has seemingly run into trouble.
According to an ESPN.com report, the club has some concern over the condition of Hernadez's pitching elbow following a physical that the he took on Thursday.
Hernandez, who has two years left on his current deal, had worked out a framework with the club that would see the 26-year-old make $175 million over the course of the next seven seasons.
While negotiations between the two sides are reportedly still continuing, neither the Mariners nor Hernandez's agent would directly address any questions about the elbow.
"We don't comment on negotiations," Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik told USA TODAY Sports.
