Jays claim OF Wells from Mariners; designate Burnett

The Toronto Blue Jays claimed outfielder Casper Wells on waivers from the Seattle Mariners Wednesday.

The 28-year-old hit .228 with 10 home runs, driving in 36 runs in 93 games for the Mariners in 2012. He has a career Major League batting average of .246 with 25 home runs and 80 RBI in 224 career games with the Mariners and Detroit Tigers.

The Blue Jays designated Alex Burnett for assignment to clear space on the 40-man roster.
