Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes will have what the team is describing as a "precautionary" MRI on his left hamstring on Monday.

He left in the 4th inning of Saturday's game against the Tigers after experiencing tightness.

Reyes and the team still hope that he will be ready for Opening Day in Tampa Bay in one week.

Reyes suffered a sprained ankle one week into the 2013 campaign and missed 66 games. In 93 games for Toronto last season Reyes hit .296 with 10 home runs and 37 RBI along with 15 stolen bases.

The Blue Jays also said on Monday that Ryan Goins will be the club's starting second baseman and Munenori Kawasaki would not make the roster.

The team also optioned Anthony Gose to triple-A Buffalo; and reassigned Chris Getz, Mike Nickeas, Steve Tolleson to their minor league camp.
