The San Francisco Giants are taking a chance on Dan Uggla.
Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Giants have signed the second baseman, given an unconditional release by the Atlanta Braves last week.
The deal is reportedly a minor league deal, meaning Uggla will report to the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies.
Uggla appeared in 48 games with the Braves this season, hitting .162 with two home runs and 10 runs batted-in.
A veteran of nine MLB seasons, Uggla has 1,127 career hits with the Braves and Florida Marlins. He has a .244 career average with 233 home runs and 690 RBI. He has been selected to three All-Star Games, representing the National League in 2006 as a rookie, as well as in 2008 and 2012.
