Toronto Blue Jays reliever Sergio Santos has cleared waivers and will be assigned to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.

Santos is making US$3.75 million in 2014 with a $6 million club option for 2015.

The 31-year-old from Los Angeles has a 7.78 earned-run average in 24 appearances with the Jays this season, including five saves.

The Jays acquired him from the Chicago White Sox after he posted a career-high 30 saves in the 2011 season in exchange for reliever Jason Frasor.

Santos has five years' experience in the Majors and three as a member of the Blue Jays. In 86 career appearances with the Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox he has a 7-11 record with 39 saves.
