The New York Yankees have bolstered their pitching depth by claiming reliever Esmil Rogers off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays, according to a report by Jack Curry of the Yes Network.
Rogers was designated for assignment for the second time this season by the Blue Jays on Sunday.
The 28-year-old had a 6.97 earned-run average with 21 strikeouts over 20.2 innings of relief for Toronto this season.
"I think they're going to give me another opportunity so I'm going to do my best," said Rogers after being designated. "So thank you to the organization for giving me the opportunity to be here again. Baseball is like that. One day you're here, the next day you're out."
He did not appear in a game during his most recent call up from Buffalo before being placed on waivers.
